Defining the Professionals
Registered Nurse (RN) - Professional who holds either a Bachelor of Science or an Associate of Science from an accredited university or college and continues to maintain an active license with satisfactory standards. Thereafter, obtains a state license from the Department of Health for many nursing services; for example but not limited to nursing assessments, administration of medication, IV therapy, and other direct skilled care services. The nurse can have a direct relationship with your doctor to better prepare or render care.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Professional who holds a license from the Department of Health after passing a stated examination. This professional performs skilled care services both independently and supervised by a Registered Nurse.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - A professional who holds a certification from successfully passing the state requirements, demonstrating knowledge and proficiency in providing ADLs (Activities of Daily Living). Usually this professional can receive directives from a nurse to perform tasks within the scope of their training.
Home Health Aide (HHA) - A professional who has completes 40 hours or 75 hours of direct care training and obtained a certificate
Homemaker - A professional who manages the client's household day-to-day chores.
Companion - A professional who accompanies the client to appointments, outings, shopping, and visiting friends and family.
